Our Story
Built by teachers, for learners who deserve more.
Quva was founded in 2020 by educators who experienced firsthand the disconnect between academic research and commercial test prep — an idea first developed at the Harvard Innovation Lab. Led by cofounders M. Umair Khan and Farrukh Sami — both mechanical engineers who went on to study at Harvard — we set out to build tools that respect how people actually learn.
We don't believe in shortcuts or hollow gamification. Whether we're designing adaptive algorithms for the GRE or delivering live professional development for primary school teachers, our ethos remains the same: profound rigor, delivered with warmth and clarity. We've helped thousands of students reach their goals not by hacking tests, but by mastering the underlying logic.

The founders

M. Umair Khan — Cofounder & Lead Instructor
Umair scored 338 on the GRE (170 Quant, 168 Verbal) and has taught more than 3,000 test-takers since 2016. A mechanical engineer from NUST and a Fulbright scholar with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, he spent five years as a teacher educator with Durbeen, designing B.Ed. mathematics pedagogy courses for Pakistan's public sector. Everything Quva builds carries the same conviction: rigor over shortcuts, delivered with warmth and clarity.

Farrukh Sami — Cofounder & Chief Executive Officer
Farrukh scored 331 on the GRE (167 Verbal, 164 Quant) and leads the business at Quva — though he's never stopped teaching. A mechanical engineer from NUST, he is completing an ALM in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Harvard Extension School.
Student stories
Real students, real scores.

“Quva made GRE prep genuinely easy for me. Knowing what to expect in every section made it less scary, the recorded lectures saved me when I missed a class, and the weekly progress check-ins kept me focused all the way through.”

“Sir Umair's guidance helped me improve from 306 to 325 in two months and land a perfect Quant score. Quva is genuinely one of the best places to prep if you want a real GRE result, not just generic content you could have found online.”

“I had two months and was stuck around 155Q/151V studying alone. Once I joined Quva, the structured classes and practice plan turned things around quickly — I went on to score 324 with confidence I didn't have a few weeks earlier.”

“I had been away from formal testing for four years. In just 20 days, the Quva faculty helped me in unimaginable ways — the paper-attempting technique alone made the biggest difference.”
